Freelance Editor for Nutrition Website

Authority Nutrition, a global leader in evidence-based nutrition, is hiring a freelance copy editor to join our team of highly qualified professionals. The editor will be responsible for editing two articles per week, working closely with our writers and chief editor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English, preferably with experience in professional writing or editing. We're especially interested in editors who have experience transforming scientific information into layperson-friendly copy. The candidate will also need to demonstrate a strong technical command of the English language and superb attention to detail. Responsibilities include:

• Editing two nutrition articles per week, approx. 1,200-2,000 words each.
• Editing each article for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, content, organization and audience.
• Setting basic WordPress settings for each article.
• Becoming an expert in AN style, working closely with our style guide and feedback from the chief editor.
• Working closely with AN authors via email, ensuring content accuracy and integrity.

REQUIREMENTS

• B.A or higher in English or a related field, including technical writing, professional communication, rhetoric, etc.
• Familiarity with web content management systems or basic coding, as all editing is done in WordPress.
• Must be professional, organized and able to complete all work by the assigned deadlines.
• Familiarity with style guides, particularly CMS, AP and house styles.
• Strong command of American English spelling and style conventions.
• Experience in nutrition, health or a related field is a plus.
