Kylie Jacobsen is a freshman PWC major from Hutchinson, MN who...

• dreams of becoming a novelist one day.

• plans to work at a newspaper, mostly likely in her hometown, after graduating from SMSU.

• reads one of her many favorite books, 1984 by George Orwell, in her free time.

• considers her greatest accomplishment landing the internship at her hometown newspaper this coming summer.

Norman Mailer High School and College Writing Awards

I have just received information about the Norman Mailer High School and College Writing Awards. This year's award focuses on creative nonfiction which the award defines as "any of the subgenres of creative nonfiction: memoir or autobiography, essay, literary journalism, profiles of people or places, and so on."

Award amounts range from $5,000 to $10, 000!!!!

Submissions are due anytime between March 23, 2009 and May 15, 2009.
