Society for Technical Communication (STC) is looking for Cover Art

STC is pleased to announce the call for cover illustrations for the November 2016 issue of Technical Communication. We are inviting illustrations that reinforce the focus of this special issue of the journal to be guest edited by Mike Albers of East Carolina University: i.e., Communicating Research Between Academic and Practicing Professionals.

In creating your illustration, you might consider
  • new opportunities for the exchange of research findings from academics to practitioners and vice versa
  • barriers to accessing the research of academics or practitioners
  • similarities and differences in the value ascribed to certain kinds of research by academics and practitioners
  • academic and industry expectations regarding what is studied, how and why research is conducted, and when and where findings are reported
  • relevance of academic research to practitioners and vice versa
  • intersections of theoretical implications and practical applications
Please submit your illustration (approximately 20x20 cm or 8x8 inches) as a high-resolution (300 dpi) jpg file by 1 September 2016 to tceditor@stc.org with a brief explanation (100-200 words) of how your illustration addresses the subject. Submissions will be anonymously reviewed, and a jury of peers will select the issue's cover. Honorable mentions will be published inside the journal.
